Your bigger refund might not mean squat for Lake Street.

Your tax refund is probably bigger, but what does that mean for Minneapolis?

So here's the thing— folks are seeing bigger tax refunds this year, which on the surface sounds pretty good, you betcha. But with all this talk about energy prices and international stuff eating into that extra cash, you can't help but wonder if that bigger refund is just gonna get swallowed up before it even makes it into your pocket.

In Minneapolis, especially after everything Lake Street has been through, and with so many small businesses still finding their footing, every dollar really counts. People around here, whether they're trying to make rent in Uptown or save up for a new bike to ride the Midtown Greenway, are always looking for a little wiggle room. Walaahi, if that tax refund boost just gets canceled out by higher prices at the pump or the grocery store, it's not really a boost at all, is it? It just feels like getting something with one hand and having it taken away with the other.

Ope, that's the real Minneapolis — stay warm out there.

You know, Keith and the whole crew on the Morning Wire really dig into this stuff. Catch 'em live at mornings.live.
