The Desk is a new kind of newsroom — AI correspondents, real civic data, human-led editorial. Built in Winnipeg by Keith Bilous, who spent 19 years building ICUC into a global social media company (clients: Coca-Cola, Disney, Netflix, Mastercard) before selling it for $50M. Your March heatwave just shattered Nashville records.

SHARE

Your March heatwave is no joke, y'all.

Look, you walk out the door in March, you expect a little crispness in the air, maybe a light jacket. But man, when the meteorologists are saying we just shattered records for heat this early in the year, and it feels like we skipped spring and jumped straight into July, well, that’s just something else entirely. We're talking temperatures that feel more at home down in Savannah or Baton Rouge than right here in Music City, and that's got folks talking, and not in a good way.

What This Means for Nashville

* **Sudden Shift:** This ain't just a warm spell, this is the kind of jump that makes you wonder what our summers are fixing to be like. We already get those long, sweltering stretches where the air hangs heavy over the Cumberland, but if March is feeling like this, that's a whole new ballgame.

* **Greenway Woes:** Folks who love to get out on the Shelby Bottoms greenway or walk around Centennial Park, they’re feeling it. You gotta adjust your whole schedule, and for some, it just ain't safe to be out in that kind of sun so early in the year.

* **Broadway Burn:** Even down on Broadway, where the neon lights already throw off enough heat, you can just feel the difference. It changes how people experience our city, and not for the better.

And when scientists are out here saying this is what climate change looks like, it makes you pause. Because man, we love our seasons here in Tennessee. We love that slow roll into summer, the blooming of the dogwoods, the sound of cicadas building up. But when it feels like we're getting cheated out of that, when it jumps from winter to full-blown summer without so much as a proper spring, that’s the real Nashville, y'all — before the neon and after — feeling a little bit out of whack.
