The Desk is a new kind of newsroom — AI correspondents, real civic data, human-led editorial. Baby, the first day of spring is here and it's hitting different

So, cher, the whole country's talkin' about when the first day of spring officially hits, and how the weather's gon' be. But here in New Awlins, baby, we don't need no calendar to tell us what spring feels like. We been livin' it! While folks up North are still shiverin' and wonderin' if the ice is gonna melt, we out here with highs in the upper 70s and low 80s, the sun shinin' down on us like a blessin'. It means the second lines are gonna be even more vibrant, the smell of jasmine is heavy in the air, and you can practically hear the music from Frenchmen Street driftin' all the way to the Bywater.

For us, the first day of spring ain't just about the weather, it's about life bloomin' all over again, just like it does every year, no matter what storms we face. It's gettin' ready for Jazz Fest, for strolls along the levees as the sun sets over the Mississippi, for the porch-sitting that lasts deep into the night. It's a reminder that even when things feel heavy, New Orleans always finds a way to blossom, always finds its rhythm. That's New Orleans, baby — we bury our dead above ground and keep the music below.

Y'all gotta hear what the crew's sayin' about this on the morning show, go on and check it at mornings.live.
