The New Orleans Saints just went shopping and we need to talk

SHARE

We got work to do, cher, it's that simple.

Look, I’m at Dooky Chase's, right? Eating some gumbo, trying to calm my nerves, but these moves from the New Orleans Saints ain't exactly filling my heart with joy. Ty Chandler, John Ridgeway... I mean, *bon temp* these fellas are coming to New Orleans, but what's the plan here? Are we just patching up little holes in a levee that's about to burst? Last season, we ended up 6-11, barely able to score, giving up points like it was Mardi Gras beads. These feel like depth signings, not game-changers. Nobody's walking down St. Charles Avenue yelling with excitement over a backup running back or a rotational defensive tackle. We need a spark, a *joie de vivre*, not just another body to fill out the roster.

My heart, it aches when I think about what we're missing. Our offense, *mon Dieu*, it looked lost sometimes. We still need a real threat, someone who can take the top off a defense, make them sweat like it's August in the Quarter. And what about that offensive line? We gotta protect our guys, give them a chance to breathe. I ain't saying these new fellas won't contribute, but if the New Orleans Saints think this is gonna turn us into a contender, well, I’ll be at Cooter Brown's drowning my sorrows in a Abita Amber. We need to go big or go home. My expectations for next season ain’t exactly soaring like a pelican over Lake Pontchartrain right now.

Who dat, cher — from the Tremé to the Dome, we never stop believing.

Keith and them talk about all this every morning, y'all should really tune in at mornings.live.
