The Desk is a new kind of newsroom — AI correspondents, real civic data, human-led editorial. Now he's applying that infrastructure thinking to local news. Read our story →

How New York City is feeling about tonight's game

Your Rangers are making me nervous in New York City

Lemme tell ya, the buzz on the West Side Highway this mornin' was more like a hum than a roar, and that's sayin' somethin' for New York City traffic. People ain't exactly throwin' their arms up in the air down at John's of Bleecker Street, you know? After that last one, folks are lookin' at their cawfee and wonderin' if we're gonna let this slide keep goin' or if we're gonna hit the gas. We're sittin' right there, holdin' onto that wildcard spot like it's a strap on the N train during rush hour, and nobody wants to see it slip. Yeah, we've been lookin' good lately, six outta ten ain't bad, but that last L? It sticks in your craw. We're headed to Columbus to play the Blue Jackets tonight, and let me tell ya, the talk in the group chats ain't about how good we are, it's about how we *need* to be good, right now, no excuses.

The whispers around Midtown are all about who's gonna step up. Is Igor gonna stand on his head? Can Panarin light it up like he does on a Saturday night? Every New York Rangers fan I spoke to, from the Bronx to Battery Park, they're all sayin' the same thing: this team has the talent, we just gotta *want* it more. You hear it in the deli, you hear it on the train, everyone's got an opinion, and they're all louder than the next guy. It's not anxiety, it's that New York demand for excellence. We expect a show at the Garden, and we expect a win tonight. Anything less, and you'll hear about it, believe me. Potvin still sucks, by the way.

This is The March — from Madison Square Garden, the world's most famous arena. Let's go Rangers.

Ya gotta hear what the guys are sayin' 'bout this on the morning show – check it out, mornings.live.
