Your San Jose Sharks really let one slip away
Teal faithful, that one was tough. The San Jose Sharks dropped a 6-3 decision to the Nashville Predators last night at the Tank, and frankly, it felt like two different games. We started with a pretty rough first period, giving up three goals — two of them on the power play to Filip Forsberg and Steven Stamkos. It’s hard to dig out of that kind of deficit, especially against a team fighting for playoff positioning. The thing I felt watching that first frame was a real lack of structured defense, and our Corsi Against numbers in that period reflected it.
But then, the San Jose Sharks showed some real fight. We clawed back in the second and early third, with goals from Nick Leddy, Will Eklund, the highly anticipated Logan Celebrini, and Alexander Wennberg, making it a 3-3 game early in the third. Celebrini's goal was a beauty, a real spark in the arena, and you could feel the energy shifting, like maybe, just maybe, we were turning the corner. But then the Predators responded with Roman Josi and Elias Haula, and then an empty-netter from Tommy Jost, which just deflated the building. It’s those late-game lapses, especially that shorthanded goal, that are just so frustrating to analyze.
This loss pushes the San Jose Sharks to 36-32-7, still 5th in the Pacific and holding onto that Wild Card #4 spot, but every point matters now. With a 4-5-1 record in our last ten, the path to the playoffs is getting narrower, and frankly, it's becoming a bit of a nail-biter for us out here in San Jose, CA. People are talking about it over their morning coffee at Philz down on Santa Clara Street. We've got a tough schedule ahead, and we need to find that consistency, especially on special teams.
Teal faithful, we're patient. We've been patient. We're still here. This is P-Nair.
