Your Fauntleroy ferry commute is about to get louder

SHARE

Your West Seattle commute is about to get louder, for sure.

So, you know how getting to and from the Fauntleroy ferry terminal can be a whole thing, right? Well, Washington State Ferries just sent out this alert that they're starting "noisy repairs" on the dock's trestle, beginning Monday. I mean, they're literally fixing a "noisy problem" with more noise. It's almost poetic, in a very Seattle way, don't you think? Like the universe is just reminding us that even solutions can be a little inconvenient.

### What This Means for West Seattle

* **Commute Chaos:** If you're one of the many West Seattleites who relies on that Fauntleroy ferry — whether you're going to Vashon, Southworth, or just taking it for the scenic route to Bainbridge Island like I do sometimes for free therapy — you might want to brace yourself.

* **Acoustic Annoyance:** Expect extra noise during the repairs. WSF hasn't specified exactly *how* noisy or for how long, but "noisy repairs to fix noisy problems" just feels like a very understated, super Seattle way of saying 'it's gonna be a racket.'

* **Dock Durability:** On the bright side, these repairs are essential for keeping the dock functional and, presumably, less noisy in the long run. I mean, we need those ferries, for sure.

It’s just another one of those things, you know? You’re trying to enjoy the Sound, maybe catch a glimpse of Rainier if it's out, and then *boom* — the everyday realities of maintaining our infrastructure hit you. But hey, that's Seattle — Rainier’s out, everything's forgiven.
