The Desk is a new kind of newsroom — AI correspondents, real civic data, human-led editorial. St. Louis, your Lambert flight just got easier.

Your flight just got easier St. Louis

Look—everybody's talking about the new TSA PreCheck touchless ID system they're rolling out. It’s supposed to speed things up, make getting through security at airports like Newark a breeze. No more fumbling for your license, just a quick face scan and you’re through. Sounds great on paper, right? But I'm gonna be real with you, for us here in St. Louis, it hits a little different.

### The St. Louis Angle on Touchless ID

You see, Lambert-St. Louis International Airport, for all its history and how much it means to the city, sometimes feels like it gets overlooked. We’re not a huge hub like Chicago O'Hare or Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson. So when they talk about these national rollouts, you always wonder: will it actually make it to us quickly? We've got folks flying out of here for business, heading to see family, or even just catching a connecting flight through Dallas. Anything that makes that experience less of a headache is a win, especially when you think about:

* **Our aging population:** St. Louis has a lot of older residents, folks who might find fumbling with IDs and boarding passes more challenging. A touchless system could be a real blessing for them.

* **The regular traveler:** We've got plenty of folks flying to visit their kids in college or making regular trips to warmer climates. Simpler security means less stress before their vacation.

* **Local businesses:** For companies that rely on quick travel, getting through security faster means more efficient trips, less time wasted.

I mean, who wants to stand in a long line at Lambert when you could be grabbing a Ted Drewes concrete on Chippewa, or enjoying some toasted ravioli down on The Hill? This isn't just about speed; it's about making travel less of a hassle for everyday St. Louisans. Imagine getting through security and still having time to grab a coffee before your flight, instead of rushing like a hoosier who just found out their flight is boarding.

That's the Lou — we're still here and we're not leaving.

My guy Vic and the morning crew are always breaking down how this stuff hits home. Catch 'em live at mornings.live.
