Here's what happened to the Toronto Maple Leafs last night (NYI 3, TOR 1)

Bare rough morning, ahlie? Your Toronto Maple Leafs played last night at The Bank, and honestly, if you went to bed after the first, I don't even blame you. We ended up losing to the New York Islanders, 3-1, and it was rough from the jump. Brent Schenn got a power play goal early, then Cyril Ritchie doubled down with another man-advantage goal – both in the first period. You see that and you just know it's gonna be one of those nights. We actually outshot them 34-27, but shots don't mean nothing if they ain't going in, mans.

Second period, we finally got on the board, styll, with Shane Lorentz bagging one from Brandon Groulx. For a minute there, you thought maybe, *just maybe*, we could pull it back. But then Eemeli Heineman sniped one for the Islanders, and that was pretty much the end of it. Mathew Barzal was everywhere for them, picking up three assists – bare annoying to watch him do that against us. I saw more people heading for the exits early than I've seen leaving the ROM on a free Tuesday, and that's saying something.

So what does this mean for your Toronto Maple Leafs? We're sitting at 29-28-12, still seventh in the Atlantic, clinging to that Wildcard #8 spot by our fingernails. We're 2-5-3 in our last ten, and this losing streak ain't helping. Every game matters now, and with the schedule heating up, we gotta find a way to get it together. The mood in Toronto this morning? It's like the 401 at rush hour – pure frustration and everyone's stressed. But listen, the belief never dies.

Leafs Nation — we ride til we die, styll.

My mans, Mark and Jamar, are chopping this up right now – catch their takes live at mornings.live.
