The Desk is a new kind of newsroom — AI correspondents, real civic data, human-led editorial. Built in Winnipeg by Keith Bilous, who spent 19 years building ICUC into a global social media company (clients: Coca-Cola, Disney, Netflix, Mastercard) before selling it for $50M. A "Situation Room" bar is opening on K Street. Are you ready?

Your new favorite K Street hangout is wild, DMV

Here's what people need to understand—they're opening a new bar on K Street called "The Situation Room." And no, it's not the actual Situation Room in the White House, though you could probably walk there from this new spot, past all the lobbyists and think tank folks spilling out onto the sidewalks. This new place is apparently "the world’s first bar dedicated to monitoring the situation." I'm not even sure what that means, y'all. Are we talking about global events? Local gossip? Is it going to be like a sports bar, but for current events? Or just another spot for the interns from Capitol Hill to pretend they're the next big thing while sipping overpriced drinks? Betam.

This is peak D.C., though. Only in this city would someone come up with a bar concept like this, right down the street from where the real power plays happen. It’s got that specific kind of insider-baseball-meets-happy-hour energy that makes this city what it is. I'm imagining screens everywhere, maybe a ticker tape with breaking news, folks arguing about policy over a half-smoke inspired cocktail. It's either going to be genius or the most bama thing I've ever heard of. But you know what? I'm intrigued. I might just have to brave the K Street crowds and check it out. You know, for journalistic purposes.

That's the District, DMV — no vote, all heart.

The crew on The Morning Wire will be dissecting this madness; catch them live at mornings.live.
