This city isn't giving up on the boys, are you kidding me?
How Winnipeg is feeling about tonight's game
I'll tell ya what, the mood around Winnipeg right now for the Jets is a real mixed bag, eh? It's not quite the full-on Whiteout fever you see in April, but it's far from checked out. You hear folks at Stella's on Sherbrook, or even just waiting for the bus at Portage and Main, talking about how this team just needs to *find* something. The anxiety is there, absolutely. We're sitting sixth in the Central, and it feels like every single point matters right now, especially with the playoff picture getting tighter than a drum. Nobody's thrilled about that last loss, but there's this underlying belief, I think, that these guys can still turn it around.
The big talk, though, it's gotta be about whether the boys can get that scoring touch back on the road. We're heading into Pittsburgh tonight to face the Penguins, and everyone's looking for someone, anyone, to spark a bit of a run. I heard a couple of guys down at The Forks this morning, grabbing their perogies, saying we need to stop relying on just a couple of guys and get that secondary scoring going. There's a lot of talk about how much longer we can stay in the hunt if we can't string together some wins. It’s not panic, not yet anyway. It’s more like a quiet determination, like we're all just holding our breath a little bit, hoping for a breakthrough.
