Okay so— Chi-Town on the wire — you already know.
### Your city hall is busy with construction and complaints
Nah nah nah, let me explain— you know how everyone's always complaining about potholes or graffiti? Well, turns out a lot of people are actually picking up the phone and calling 311 about it. According to the latest 311 service request data, "Aircraft Noise Complaint" is number two with 8,632 requests. I mean, come on, you live near O'Hare, what do you expect? But then, right after that, "Graffiti Removal Request" racked up 1,983 calls, and "Pothole in Street Complaint" had 1,573. It’s wild, like, these are the real issues people are dealing with every day, not just the big headlines.
And while we're calling in our complaints, City Hall is still dishing out permits. There's a $300,000 permit for an "OUTDOOR SITE WORK TO FOR NEW PARKING LOT" approved on May 14, 2026. A whole new parking lot, like, where exactly is this going? Meanwhile, someone got an Express Permit for $2,000 to legalize an unpermitted wood fence. Unpermitted work, mira! They had a fence up, now they gotta pay to make it official. It's always something, right?
* Aircraft Noise Complaints: 8,632 requests
* Graffiti Removal: 1,983 requests
* Pothole in Street: 1,573 requests
It makes you wonder, with all these permits for parking lots and legalizing fences, are they actually gonna get to those potholes on time? Or will we be dodging them all summer, like we always do? Something to watch for, for sure.
