Your councillors are already booking trips for next November

Your City Hall is looking for ways to spend your money

It seems a few councillors are getting a jump on their travel plans for next year. According to the recently released council expenses data, Councillor Clarke and Councillor Elliott are already booked for the 2025 Alberta Municipalities Convention in Calgary, scheduled for November 12-14.

Here's a breakdown:

* Councillor Clarke's tab for the convention totals $1,510.88, covering $825.88 for accommodation and $685.00 for registration.

* Councillor Elliott’s expenses so far for the same event are $1,173.88, with $825.88 for accommodation and an additional $348.00 allocated for food and incidentals.

It’s prudent, I suppose, to plan ahead. Saves a last-minute scramble. Though, honestly, given our winters, it’s not like there’s much else to do in November. Maybe they’re looking for tips on how other municipalities handle their snow removal; we’re certainly never short on that particular topic here. This is, after all, Edmonton. What else would you expect?
