That Lethbridge wind? It's hitting 100 km/h today.

Your day is about to get windy, Lethbridge

Good morning from the coulees — the wind's up, the sky's wide, and Lethbridge has something to say.

Look, Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for our city and much of southern Alberta. We're looking at significant wind gusts starting this afternoon, with speeds potentially reaching 90 to 100 kilometres per hour, especially through the Gap and along the Oldman River valley. This isn't your usual breezy day out by the High Level Bridge; this is the kind of wind that rattles the windows in the Galt Museum and tries to rip your hat off even inside the Park Place Mall. The forecast indicates these strong winds will persist into the evening, making driving conditions tricky, particularly for high-profile vehicles on Highway 3.

* **When:** Starting this afternoon, continuing into the evening.

* **What to expect:** Westerly wind gusts of 90 to 100 km/h.

* **Where:** Lethbridge and surrounding areas, particularly exposed regions and coulee bottoms.

* **Source:** Environment Canada special weather statement, issued at 6:00 AM MST.

Remember the Chinook arch that was up there yesterday, promising a bit of warmth? Well, today the wind is here to remind us who's really in charge of the weather. Keep anything loose tied down, and maybe reconsider that walk along the paths in Indian Battle Park today. We'll be keeping an eye on how this develops and any local impacts.
