Your next Tim Hortons run could be a little different
Bonjour, Ottawa! Simone Okafor-Bouchard here, with your daily download from City Hall. The real story is never on the Hill – it’s always just off it, and today, we have some interesting movement in our city’s infrastructure.
First up, something très Canadian: your local Tim Hortons might be getting a facelift. Building Permit #BP 3ALT 26-430 shows interior alterations and recladding to the drive-thru window at the Tim Hortons located at 780 Bancroft Drive in Ward 11. This project is valued at $84,619. It’s not a full reno, but enough to make you wonder if your double-double experience is about to get a little smoother.
### Big Money, Big Buildings
On the larger scale, we’re seeing significant investment in new residential spaces. A new two-storey detached dwelling, complete with a finished basement and walkout, is coming to 865 Aviation Road in Ward 1. Permit #BP 9NEW 24-5505 indicates this residential build is valued at a substantial $2,066,986. That’s a serious price tag, and it speaks to the ongoing demand for housing in our growing city.
Here’s a quick snapshot of what’s in the works:
* **Commercial Update:** Interior alterations on the 2nd and 6th floors at 4701 Tahoe Blvd (Ward 3) costing $568,320.
* **Industrial Upgrade:** A big project at 5900 Keaton Cres (Ward 5) for interior alterations and a new fire alarm system, valued at $1,556,164.
* **Residential Growth:** The application for a new residential apartment building at 1970 and 1980 Fowler Drive (Ward 8) is still in process.
* **Future Development:** A townhouse development at 376, 390 Derry Rd W and 0 Oaktree Circle (Ward 11) is also active.
