Your City Hall is talking immigration. Here's why.

Here's what your City Hall is talking about

Look, here’s the deal, mijo. While we’re all out here trying to beat this April heat – it was a cool 95 today, a real break from last week – the folks up at City Hall are wrestling with some big national issues that hit close to home. I’m talking about the federal immigration crackdown that's got people in our city and down in Pima County talking.

According to a few releases, the US Senate Democrats are pushing for votes on "rising costs" and this very "immigration crackdown" during a marathon session. And right down the I-10, the Pima County Attorney just said *no* to a GOP challenge that tried to block ICE from "staging" on county property. That's a strong move, especially with what we’ve seen and heard from families right here in Phoenix. We’ve got a lot of folks worried about what this all means for our communities, for the neighborhoods that make this city what it is.

It’s a reminder that even when the headlines are about DC, the ripple effect lands right here, on our streets, in our homes. We'll be watching closely to see how these federal discussions impact the resources and conversations happening in our own city council chambers.

That's the Valley, baby — 115 degrees and we're still out here.
