Phoenix, your state budget is getting cut. Are you ready?

Your city's money decisions are getting wild

Look, here's the deal. While the rest of us were trying to figure out if it was going to hit 118 degrees or 120 today, our state-level budget talks are heating up even more than the pavement on Mill Avenue. A new report dropped today, Wednesday, April 29th, that our Republican-led legislature is pushing a budget that, straight up, says "we don't need Democratic votes."

The plan is to cut a whole bunch of spending, mijo, to make room for tax cuts. We're talking about decisions that will ripple out through every neighborhood, from the murals in South Phoenix to the fancy shops in Scottsdale. This isn't just numbers on a page; it's about what services get funded, what schools get resources, and how much is left for things like cooling centers when the summer really kicks in.

It means we need to pay close attention to what's happening up at the Capitol, because these moves impact our daily lives right here in the Valley.

That's the Valley, baby — 115 degrees and we're still out here.
