Your Arizona lawmakers are taking a $200,000 paid vacation

Your state lawmakers are taking a paid vacation

Look, here's the deal—while everyone in Phoenix is out here working, driving through the heat, your state lawmakers are taking a whole month off. And get this: they’re collecting money for it.

The Arizona Capitol Times reported yesterday, Monday, May 11, that our legislators are set to collect $200,000 in per diem payments during their recess. That’s for a month off, mi gente, whether they're actually working or not. We’re talking about money that comes from our pockets, from the taxes we pay while we’re buying groceries, filling up the tank, trying to make ends meet.

It just feels like a slap in the face for folks in South Phoenix who are already feeling the pinch. We're out here dealing with triple-digit temperatures, and they're cashing checks for not being in session.

It makes you wonder, oye, what kind of message does that send to the people they represent? We’ll keep an eye on when they decide to come back and what they actually get done when they do. That's the Valley, baby — 115 degrees and we're still out here.
