Your TTC just went 7-0 against the province's transit bill

Fam, there's a hazmat situation and it's active right now

Okay but real talk—it's wild out there this morning. Toronto Fire has been dispatched to three active incidents since 7:53 AM. The most pressing? A Hazmat Level 2 incident that came in at 7:59:58 AM. We don't have the exact location yet, but a Level 2 means it's a significant response, fam. Plus, two separate "Alarm Single Source" incidents were dispatched at 7:53:42 AM and 8:02:13 AM. This is all according to Toronto Fire Services real-time dispatch data. Stay clear of any emergency scenes and give our first responders space to work, please.

### TTC's Fight Against Bill 98

Switching gears to City Hall, the Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) is pushing back hard against Bill 98, the "Building Homes and Improving Transportation Infrastructure Act, 2026." On April 16, 2026, the TTC passed a motion, carried unanimously 7-0, directly responding to this provincial bill.

Here’s who voted:

* Chair Jamaal Myers – Yes

* Dianne Saxe – Yes

* Josh Matlow – Yes

* Ausma Malik – Yes

* Alejandra Bravo – Absent (but the motion still carried)

This motion, introduced by Chair Myers and seconded by Dianne Saxe, signals a united front from the TTC against provincial legislation that could impact our transit system. It's a clear message from the TTC leadership: they want to control Toronto's transportation future. What this means for your daily commute on the 501 Queen streetcar or getting stuck in the Don Valley Parkway traffic, we’ll have to wait and see.

Real talk, this is Toronto — stay up.
