Your transit just got a lifeline, fam
Okay but real talk— remember how everyone's always bugging about the TTC and how the province is trying to mess with our transit plans? Well, big news dropped at City Hall. On April 16, 2026, the Toronto Transit Commission passed a Motion without Notice, straight up responding to Bill 98, the "Building Homes and Improving Transportation Infrastructure Act."
This motion, brought forward by Chair Jamaal Myers and seconded by a bunch of councillors, passed with a strong 7-0 vote. Guys like Dianne Saxe, Josh Matlow, and Ausma Malik all voted 'Yes', meaning they're standing firm against provincial interference. Alejandra Bravo was absent, but the vote was unanimous among those present. This is huge, dude, because it shows City Hall is actually fighting to keep control of our transit future, especially with all the new condos popping up. We can't have the province dictating how we build infrastructure in our own city.
This means we need to watch closely how the city negotiates with Queen's Park on Bill 98. Our commute literally depends on it.
Real talk, this is Toronto — stay up.
