Arcadia is coming to Johnson Street
Good morning from the island — we're still here, the orcas were spotted at Active Pass, and honestly, life is fine.
Well, here's the thing about our city's pulse: sometimes it beats in unexpected places. According to the recent business license filings, a new entertainment venture called Arcadia is set to open its doors at 707 Johnson Street. An amusement centre, you say? What does that mean for our quiet downtown? We're not talking about a Ferris wheel on Fort Street, mind you.
This new license, #48095, suggests a shift, doesn't it? Perhaps it's a nod to more indoor, interactive experiences, which seems rather sensible given our sometimes-damp weather. And it’s not the only new arrival. Just around the corner, a Downtown Veterinary Clinic is setting up at 736 Caledonia Ave (License #22734), which will be a comfort to many of our four-legged friends and their humans.
These aren't grand pronouncements from council, but rather the quiet hum of commerce and community taking root. It’s what keeps the city moving, like the float planes landing in the Inner Harbour. What we'll need to watch for is how Arcadia integrates into the Johnson Street landscape, and whether it adds a new flavour to our evenings, or perhaps just a bit of delightful noise.
