How Montreal is feeling about tonight's game

SHARE

This is how we're really feeling in Montreal tonight

Tabarnac, the city's got that buzzing feeling, you know? Not quite electric, maybe more like a low hum you hear from the hydro lines over Parc La Fontaine. It's Gameday, and the Montreal Canadiens are heading down to face the Tampa Bay Lightning. After that tough loss last game, people are… *on edge*. I heard two guys at St-Viateur Bagel this morning, one saying, "On peut pas laisser filer ces points-là!" The other just shook his head, looking like he's seen this movie before. Everyone's talking about how we've been on a good run, 7-3-0 in the last ten, but that one loss, it stings. It always stings.

The big conversation? It's all about Caufield. The kid’s been quiet lately, and everyone's wondering if he's feeling the pressure or what. You hear it everywhere, from the Métro on the Orange Line to the offices downtown near Square Victoria. "Est-ce qu'il va se réveiller ce soir?" That's the question. We're third in the Atlantic, which is good, but when you're a Montreal Canadiens fan, "good" isn't enough. We want more. We *demand* more. It’s what being from this city means.
