You won't believe what Chicagoans are calling 311 about!

Your city hall is really getting those potholes filled

Okay so, Chi-Town on the wire — you already know. Let's talk about what's actually happening at City Hall, porque la gente needs to know. You won't believe what the 311 calls are showing.

### Potholes and Planes

Nah nah nah, let me explain. While *everyone* is calling 311 for general info, which is like 11,476 requests, the second biggest issue on people's minds is aircraft noise complaints. Seriously, 9,607 requests! That's almost as many as the info calls! You'd think it'd be potholes, right? But those are only 2,528 requests. Still a lot, don't get me wrong, and I see 'em on my way from Englewood to the office. But almost 10,000 noise complaints? That’s wild. This data is straight from the 311 service request log, so it's what people are *actually* reporting.

### Big Money for Masonry

And get this, on the development side, someone just dropped serious cash on tuckpointing and masonry. We’re talking a $450,000 permit for 45,000 square feet of repair work, according to the permit data from April 17, 2026. That's a huge investment in keeping our buildings standing tall. It's good to see money going into the existing structures, not just tearing down and building new, you know? What does this mean for us? Well, if folks are worried about plane noise over potholes, it shows where the city’s ears need to be. And that half-million-dollar masonry job? Hope it’s keeping some historic building from falling apart, not just another luxury condo tower.
