Your City Hall This Week: Housing and Staying Warm
Here's the thing about Peterborough, this past week felt like the river was showing us a couple of strong currents. We saw a lot of talk about how people are finding their way to a home here. The Canadian Real Estate Association, CREA, brought some numbers to the surface, and it seems like the flow of new listings and sales is a bit… contained, for now. It’s a good moment to reflect on what a healthy housing journey looks like for folks along the Otonabee.
Then, of course, Mother Nature decided to remind us who's really in charge. We had a significant winter storm roll through, dumping a fair bit of snow. It’s a good reminder to be prepared, to look out for your neighbours, and to respect the power of Gichi-ziibi. Even with the quiet from the city's open data portal this week, these two themes — finding shelter and weathering the storm — really defined our civic conversation.
This is the Electric City — small town, big current. Let's go.
