Your 2024 property tax just got bigger.

Your City Hall was a whole Nollywood film again this week!

Saskatoon — seven bridges, two rivers, and something happening you haven't heard about yet. My darlings, what a week at City Hall! It was like a Nollywood film with plot twists at every corner, minus the dramatic slow-motion falls.

The big conversation, the real *gbas gbos*, was all about real estate. Remember when I told you how CREA was making things easier? Well, this week, it got complicated!

* Council debated the actual cost of a new home.

* The property tax increase of 7.43% for 2024 is still a huge talking point.

* City Council decided to delay a decision on the new city-wide zoning bylaw until next month. This bylaw is meant to simplify things, but my dears, it's not looking simple right now.

It’s clear that everyone at City Hall is feeling the pressure from the rising costs of living in our beautiful city. Saskatoon is a city that will invite you to a farm-to-table dinner and then make you defend the concept of a city for twenty minutes, so this push and pull on housing is very on-brand.
