Did James Pasternak just flip on a tree vote for you?

You won't believe what happened with those trees, fam!

Okay but real talk— three active fire alarms popped off this morning, dude. Toronto Fire Services dispatch records show one at 7:43 AM, another at 7:45 AM, and a third at 7:54 AM, all today, May 5, 2026. The locations are pending, but that's a lot of alarms in a short span, no? Hope everyone’s safe out there.

Beyond that, the North York Community Council had some wild votes on April 29, 2026, about tree removals. Councillor James Pasternak voted 'Yes' to remove private trees at 15 Marchwood Drive and 14 Prestbury Street, both passing 5-1. But then, for a city-owned tree at 103 Roslin Avenue, Pasternak actually voted 'No' on one application and 'Yes' on another, both resulting in a 3-3 tie, meaning they lost. It's wild how much back and forth there is just for a tree, you know? Meanwhile, a second unit permit was issued for 8 Derrydown on March 29, 2022, according to City of Toronto building permits data, which is actually good news for folks looking for affordable rentals, if they’re still available.
