Victoria just made ice cream bikes a thing!

Your City Hall just okayed something delightful

Good morning from the island — we're still here, the orcas were spotted at Active Pass, and honestly, life is fine.

Well, here's the thing about what your City Hall has been up to. Among the usual permits and paperwork, a couple of new businesses caught my eye. And really, what says 'Victoria summer' more than ice cream? HAZELS ICE CREAM LTD has been granted two new mobile bicycle vendor licenses, numbers 40784 and 40447, allowing them to pedal their frozen treats around town. It does make one wonder if they'll be gracing the scenic routes of Beacon Hill Park or perhaps the bustling Inner Harbour.

And for those who enjoy a bit of retro fun, ARCADIA, an amusement centre, is now officially licensed at 707 Johnson Street, license number 48095. It’s a nice addition to a street that’s already quite vibrant.

On the building permit side, it seems folks are still busy making room for family or perhaps a bit of rental income. An electrical permit, EP083395, was issued for $8,200 to remove existing basement wiring and wire in a new basement suite, complete with a bathroom, storage rooms, two bedrooms, and a new kitchen area. It’s a reminder of how our housing stock is slowly evolving, one suite at a time. It’s always interesting to see how these small, individual projects weave into the larger fabric of our city.
