Your city hall just approved two new ice cream bikes.

Your city hall is really embracing the fun this week

Good morning from the island — we're still here, the orcas were spotted at Active Pass, and honestly, life is fine.

Well, here's the thing about our civic goings-on lately: it seems our city hall is developing a bit of a sweet tooth, or perhaps an appreciation for a bit of playful diversion. What do I mean? We’ve just seen the approval of two new business licenses for HAZELS ICE CREAM LTD, specifically for bicycle vendors. Yes, two of them. Mobile ice cream, coming to a park pathway or sunny street near you. It does make one wonder if the deer in Beacon Hill Park will develop a taste for pistachio.

### The City's New Flavours

This double dip, if you will, into mobile dessert sales is rather charming. It signals a small but noticeable shift towards supporting more accessible, neighbourhood-level businesses. It’s not about grand developments, is it? It’s about the small joys.

* HAZELS ICE CREAM LTD (BICYCLE VENDOR) secured Licence #40784 and #40447.

* The business is mobile, meaning those lovely bicycles will be pedalling around town.

* This points to a continued push for pedestrian-friendly commerce.

Beyond the ice cream, we also have ARCADIA, an amusement centre, setting up shop at 707 Johnson Street with Licence #48095. So, not only can you get your frosty treat, but now there's a new place to perhaps try your hand at a classic arcade game. It's a bit of a throwback, isn't it? A nod to simple, tangible entertainment in a city that sometimes feels a little too serious about its heritage.

What does this mean for us, the residents of Victoria? It means more options for a bit of light-hearted fun and convenience. Keep an eye out for those ice cream bikes; summer is just around the corner.
