🏛 City HallPhiladelphiaArticle

Your city issued zero new building permits. Zero.

Your city's building permits are lookin' a little quiet, or nah?

Listen, y'all wanna know what’s really goin’ on at City Hall? We been peekin' at them development permits, and let me tell you, it's a ghost town. Like, not a single new BP_MECH, BP_DEMO, PP_PLUMBNG, or EP_ELECTRL permit issued. I'm not even gonna hold you, that's wild. Usually, you got somethin' movin', even if it's just some jawn gettin' a new wooder heater installed over in Fishtown.

This ain't just some boring numbers, this is about our city's heartbeat. No new demolition permits? That means fewer new builds, fewer jobs for our union folks, and honestly, fewer spots for people to live in a city that needs more affordable housing, not less. We ain't seein' new plumbing or electrical work either, so those flip houses in Point Breeze or the new spots on Passyunk ain't movin' right now.

What's this mean for us? Well, for one, the city ain't gettin' permit fees, which is bread they use for our schools and our parks. Keep an eye on the next few weeks to see if this is just a blip or if development is really slowin' down.

That's the jawn, Philly — we don't do fake out here.

Kee.

The crew on the Morning Wire is breaking this whole jawn down right now – you can catch it live at mornings.live.
